Bannu shooting kills policeman; police hunt for terrorists after Swat clash

BANNU/SWAT: A police constable was shot dead on the spot by unidentified armed assailants in Bannu’s Tarang area, while two terrorists were seriously injured during a joint operation by Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and local police in Swat.

The deceased constable, Ibrar, who was assigned to the Investigation Branch, was on his way to pick up his children from school when gunmen opened fire near Tarang graveyard. He died instantly. Police recovered his body and shifted it to the local hospital for autopsy as investigations continue.

In a separate incident, a joint CTD and police team conducted a search operation in the mountainous Mata area of Swat. The forces encountered terrorists, resulting in a heavy exchange of fire during which two terrorists sustained serious bullet wounds.

According to police spokespersons, the injured terrorists were taken away by their comrades. The authorities have launched a search to capture the suspects.

Regional Police Officer of Malakand Division, Sher Akbar Khan, confirmed the ongoing efforts to apprehend the terrorists involved.
