Dananeer says one flat tyre made her 'give up' on being independent

A flat tyre. An Instagram story. And suddenly, everyone on the internet had an opinion.

Pakistani actress Dananeer Mobeen has found herself at the centre of a social media debate after joking that one roadside mishap was enough to make her rethink being "independent."

After her car suffered a flat tyre, Dananeer called a rescue service for assistance and later shared the experience with her followers.

"Busted tyre and i don't want to be independent anymore, just wanna be babied and taken care of and just dilly dally through a thick forest and bake banana bread," she wrote on Instagram. She also thanked the rescue team that came to help.

The lighthearted post quickly escaped Instagram Stories and landed in debate territory.

Some people laughed along, saying it was clearly a joke.

Others, however, weren't amused.

"Well if a girl wants to drive she shud b able to change a tyre too," one user commented.

Another argued that depending on others doesn't cancel out independence, writing:

"She's cute... but I just can't crack jokes on independent women... apart from jokes being dependant is also a part of independence."

Meanwhile, plenty of users wondered why people were taking the post so seriously.

"Sometimes take a joke as a joke! It's not that hard," one commenter wrote.

Dananeer first became an internet sensation in 2021 with her viral "Pawri Ho Rahi Hai" video before successfully transitioning into acting.

Since then, she has starred in dramas including Sinf-e-Aahan, Muhabbat Gumshuda Meri and Meem Se Mohabbat, while making her film debut earlier this year in Mera Lyari.

This time, though, it wasn't her acting that got everyone talking—it was a flat tyre and a joke that split the internet.
