LAKKI MARWAT: A police station in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat district came under a quadcopter attack on Sunday night, while a separate roadside blast in neighbouring Karak left a police officer injured, according to officials.
A police official said terrorists targeted the Shaheed Asmatullah Khan Khattak police station in Darra Pezu town. The explosion was heard in Pezu city, but no casualties were reported and personnel deployed at the building remained safe. The official said police also opened fire on the quadcopter, but it moved away because it was flying at a high altitude.
After the attack, a police contingent reached the station and began searching the surrounding mountainous area for the assailants, the official said.
In Karak district, a police patrol was hit by an improvised explosive device in the Darga Shaheedan area during a search-and-strike operation led by District Police Officer Imran Khan, an official said. He said terrorists had planted the device on the roadside to target law enforcement personnel. The blast injured the station house officer of Banda Daud Shah police station. Following the explosion, law enforcers detained several suspects during a combing operation in the area.
