PMSA repatriates eight Iranian nationals after sea rescue

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Maritime Security Agency has completed the return of eight Iranian nationals who were rescued at sea, according to a PMSA spokesperson.

The spokesperson said the eight Iranian citizens were picked up by the merchant vessel MMA VALOUR while they were at sea. After that, the PMSA arranged their reception and handled the documentation, medical examinations and other procedures needed for their repatriation.

Officials and representatives from several institutions were present during the process, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistan Navy, Federal Investigation Agency, the Iranian Consulate General and other relevant national and international organisations, the spokesperson said.

According to the PMSA, the repatriation was completed through coordination among national and international agencies. The agency said the effort reflected Pakistan’s commitment to saving lives at sea, extending humanitarian assistance and supporting regional maritime cooperation. The PMSA added that it would continue carrying out search-and-rescue duties in Pakistan’s maritime zones and remain committed to protecting human life during maritime emergencies.
