Wimbledon raises prize money to a record £64.2 million
Wimbledon has raised its total prize money by 20 percent to a record £64.2 million for this year’s tournament. Singles champions will earn £3.6 million each and first-round losers £80,000.

LONDON: Wimbledon has increased its total prize fund by 20 percent to a tournament-record £64.2 million, officials at the All England Club announced during a pre-tournament press conference on Thursday.
The rise takes the overall purse from £53.5 million last year to £64.2 million for this year’s championships, which begin in south-west London on June 29. Singles champions in both the men’s and women’s draws will each receive £3.6 million, while players eliminated in the first round will get £80,000.
