Raisani urges united response to insecurity in Balochistan

QUETTA: Former senator Nawabzada Haji Lashkari Raisani on Tuesday voiced serious concern over the situation in Balochistan, calling it the most difficult period in the province’s history and urging a collective political and social response to mounting challenges.

Addressing a press conference at the Quetta Press Club, Mr Raisani said people in the province were facing acute hardship amid worsening insecurity, economic strain and a rise in violent incidents. He said the growing number of tragic events had created widespread fear and psychological distress among residents.

Mr Raisani also alleged that some forces were intentionally fuelling instability in Balochistan to create conditions for enforcing a particular state structure through force.

He said the province and its people were going through an unprecedented crisis. “Balochistan and its people are passing through the worst situation in their history,” he said, adding that the growing number of tragic incidents had caused widespread anxiety and mental distress among residents.
