ISLAMABAD: Speakers at a joint Pakistan-Russia webinar on Tuesday said the global system is moving through a major shift toward a multipolar order, a change they said is reshaping ties between Islamabad and Moscow from a historically limited relationship into a more practical partnership based on shared interests.
The webinar was hosted by the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad in collaboration with the University of World Civilizations, Moscow, under the title Pakistan and Russia: Bilateral Relationship at the Cusp of Shifting Global Order. The event brought together senior policymakers, diplomats, strategic experts, media professionals and academics from both countries.
Participants examined the effects of ongoing geopolitical changes, particularly after the US-Israel attack on Iran, and discussed what those developments mean for Pakistan-Russia relations.
In her opening remarks, ISSI Centre for Strategic Perspectives Director Dr Neelum Nigar said engagement between Pakistan and Russia had gained importance amid fast-changing regional and global conditions. She said the webinar was aimed not only at improving strategic understanding between the two countries, but also at promoting public diplomacy, academic cooperation, media links and people-to-people contacts.
