Dar calls for competitive automotive ecosystem
Ishaq Dar chaired a high-level review of the auto and auto parts policy and stressed the need for a competitive, innovative and sustainable automotive ecosystem. The meeting focused on accelerating Pakistan’s transition to electric vehicles and strengthening domestic manufacturing.

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Monday said Pakistan needed a competitive, innovative and sustainable automotive ecosystem to support growth, build industrial capacity, create skilled employment and promote environmental sustainability.
Dar made the remarks while chairing a high-level meeting to review the auto and auto parts policy, according to a statement issued by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister.
The statement said the meeting placed particular emphasis on speeding up Pakistan’s shift towards electric vehicles. The committee was briefed on steps aimed at encouraging EV adoption and reinforcing domestic manufacturing.
Dar stressed the importance of a future-ready automotive sector, with the statement saying such a system could contribute to economic expansion while also advancing environmental goals.
