Another suspected mpox case admitted to Bahawal Victoria Hospital

BAHAWALPUR: Another suspected mpox patient has been admitted to Bahawal Victoria Hospital in Bahawalpur, where he has been placed in isolation while test results are awaited.

The patient is a resident of the city and a relative of the earlier patient from whom a staff nurse had contracted the virus, according to the hospital. His identity was not disclosed by the BVH administration. If his test comes back positive, he would become the third probable mpox case linked to the hospital.

BVH Coordinator Dr Muhammad Rizwan confirmed that the relative of the first mpox patient had been admitted and shifted to the hospital’s isolation ward. He said blood samples were sent to a laboratory in Lahore on Friday and the results were expected by Monday.

Dr Rizwan also said the staff nurse who had previously tested positive and was in home isolation had now been shifted back to the hospital’s isolation ward. He said she had recovered and was asking to be discharged, but would remain in isolation at BVH to complete the required 21-day isolation period.
