LAHORE: Punjab Information and Culture Minister Azma Bokhari on Wednesday said an extraordinary level of enthusiasm was being witnessed among the people of Gilgit-Baltistan ahead of the upcoming elections, with political activity reaching its peak across the region.

She said the arrival of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif in Gilgit-Baltistan had significantly transformed the political atmosphere and energised party supporters.

Azma Bokhari stated that the immense love, respect and warm reception accorded to Nawaz Sharif in Gilgit reflected the genuine sentiments of the people. She added that the people of Gilgit-Baltistan continued to hold Nawaz Sharif in high regard and viewed PML-N as a symbol of development, prosperity and public service.

She further said the people of Gilgit-Baltistan were fully aware that major development projects and public welfare initiatives in the region were delivered during PML-N governments. In contrast, she maintained that other political parties had failed to meet public expectations despite repeated promises.

The information minister said PML-N candidates were running an energetic and effective election campaign and were receiving widespread public support.
