ATC reserves ruling on Sheikh Rashid’s Umrah plea
An anti-terrorism court has reserved its ruling on Sheikh Rashid Ahmed’s request to travel to Saudi Arabia for Umrah. The same court also admitted Fawad Chaudhry’s acquittal pleas in the GHQ attack case and 11 other May 9 cases.

ISLAMABAD: A special anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Tuesday reserved its decision on an application by former interior minister and Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, who has sought permission to travel to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah.
The court said it would announce the ruling on June 16 after hearing arguments from both sides.
In the same proceedings, the court formally admitted for hearing applications filed by former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry seeking acquittal in the GHQ attack case and 11 other cases linked to the May 9 events, on the ground of lack of evidence.
Notices were issued to the prosecution, which was directed to submit its reply along with the complete record on June 16. After hearing arguments from both sides, the court reserved its verdict, which is scheduled to be announced on the same date.
