New currency drop? ‘Quaid Winter Collection’ Rs500 note goes viral
A Karachi biryani shopkeeper allegedly accepted a counterfeit Rs500 note showing Quaid-e-Azam in winter clothing. The bizarre “Winter Collection” design went viral online, while officials face calls to investigate.

A Karachi biryani shopkeeper has become the latest victim of a scam that sounds more like an internet meme than a real crime.
The shopkeeper was allegedly tricked into accepting a counterfeit Rs500 note featuring none other than Quaid-e-Azam — wearing a winter beanie and heavy coat.
Yes, really.
The bizarre "Winter Edition" currency note reportedly slipped through during a busy rush when a customer handed over the cash face-down before quickly leaving. It was only later that the shopkeeper realised something was seriously wrong.
Instead of the familiar portrait seen on genuine currency, the fake note allegedly showed a heavily dressed-up Quaid-e-Azam sporting winter fashion that social media users quickly dubbed the "Quaid-e-Azam Winter Collection." The unusual design instantly turned the incident into viral comedy gold.
Photos of the note spread across social media, where users joked that Pakistan had secretly launched a seasonal currency collection. Others mocked the counterfeiters' creativity, calling it everything from a "winter fit check" to a "limited-edition fashion drop."
One user joked that the fraudster didn't use fake money — he used "exclusive winter merchandise." Another wrote that the counterfeit note looked less like legal tender and more like a clothing brand advertisement. Behind the laughs, however, the incident has renewed concerns about fake currency circulating in local markets.
The customer reportedly managed to walk away with the purchase before the deception was discovered, leaving the shopkeeper to absorb the loss.
While authorities have been urged to investigate the incident, the internet has already delivered its verdict.
For many Pakistanis, this may be the first counterfeit note in history to go viral not because it looked convincing — but because someone gave Quaid-e-Azam a winter wardrobe and somehow got away with it.
