Dadu records 51.5C as PMD reports new temperature high
Dadu recorded 51.5C on Thursday, the Pakistan Meteorological Department said, setting a new maximum temperature record. The department said hot and dry weather was expected to continue in most parts of the country.
DADU: The Pakistan Meteorological Department said on Thursday that Sindh’s Dadu recorded a new maximum temperature of 51.5 degrees Celsius, setting a fresh high as intense heat persisted in parts of the country.
According to PMD data, the reading in Dadu was 4.5C above normal. Larkana and Jacobabad were the next hottest locations, each recording 50.5C, the department said.
Last week, the PMD had forecast hot to very hot weather across the country during Eidul Azha, with temperatures expected to stay 5C to 7C above normal levels. In a press release, the department said maximum temperatures were likely to remain 4-6C above normal and could rise to 47-50C in Sukkur, Shikarpur, Qambar Shahdadkot, Jacobabad, Larkana, Mohenjo Daro, Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, Tharparkar, Badin, Sujawal, Thatta, Hyderabad, Matiyari, Tando Muhammad Khan, Umerkot, Ghotki, Khairpur, Nausheroferoze, Mirpur Khas, Jamshoro, Sanghar, Sibbi, Turbat and Panjgur.
The PMD added that mainly hot and dry weather was forecast over most parts of the country.
