Punjab places Eidul Azha security on high alert as IG orders province-wide vigilance
Punjab IG Abdul Kareem orders high-alert security across mosques, cattle markets, embassies and sensitive sites for Eidul Azha, with enhanced protection for Chinese and other foreign nationals and tighter border vigilance.

LAHORE: Punjab Inspector General of Police Abdul Kareem on Tuesday ordered high-alert security across mosques, places of worship, cattle markets, commercial centres, important installations, embassies and other sensitive locations ahead of Eidul Azha, directing enhanced protection for Chinese and other foreign nationals, diplomatic missions, residences and workplaces, along with strict security arrangements during their movement.

Chairing a high-level meeting at the Central Police Office, the IG Punjab reviewed the overall security situation across the province and Eid-related arrangements in detail. Regional Police Officers (RPOs), City Police Officers (CPOs), District Police Officers (DPOs) and other senior officers joined the meeting via video link and briefed the police chief on preparedness measures, said a statement issued from the Central Police Office (CPO).
The IG directed that, in coordination with Special Branch, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and other security agencies, security protocols for Chinese and other foreign nationals should be further reviewed and strengthened, and existing security SOPs made more effective and responsive.
He instructed senior field officers to personally visit their jurisdictions and physically inspect security arrangements at mosques, worship places, sensitive installations and key public locations to ensure foolproof security.

Abdul Kareem further directed enhanced vigilance at inter-provincial border police checkpoints and government and law enforcement installations, stressing that deployed personnel must remain fully alert while performing duties.
The police chief ordered strict monitoring of anti-state elements, including Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan, and directed that intelligence-based search, sweep and combing operations should continue without interruption, particularly in border regions.
He also called for accelerating the ongoing crackdown and deportation process against illegally residing Afghan nationals and other undocumented foreign residents in the province.
The IG Punjab emphasized that Safe City Authority surveillance cameras must be fully utilized to ensure continuous monitoring of markets, business centres, worship places and other sensitive areas, enabling immediate response to any suspicious activity.
The meeting was attended via video link by CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana, Additional IG South Punjab Muhammad Kamran Khan, all RPOs, CPOs and DPOs, while Additional IG Operations Punjab Muhammad Ali Nekokara and AIG Operations Zahid Nawaz Marwat were present in the meeting.
