Karachi authorities have begun a crackdown on illegal cattle markets and roadside animal sales ahead of Eidul Azha. Officials said arrests have been made, FIRs registered and monitoring teams deployed in affected areas.

KARACHI: The administration has started a crackdown on illegal cattle markets and roadside sale of sacrificial animals across Karachi ahead of Eidul Azha, according to officials.
Officials said the operation is intended to remove unauthorised cattle markets set up without formal approval and to stop roadside trading that is creating traffic congestion and sanitation problems in different parts of the city.
They said several people involved in establishing illegal markets had been arrested and FIRs had also been registered against them. District administrations have submitted detailed reports on the action taken to Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi.
In Shah Faisal Colony, authorities dismantled an illegal cattle market and took several people into custody. In District Central, Deputy Commissioner Tahir Sulaiman removed a market set up near Peela Hotel and said similar operations had been carried out at the same location repeatedly in the past. He added that monitoring teams had now been deployed to stop illegal setups from reappearing and to maintain the flow of traffic.
