HDA warns 'major defaulters' of action over unpaid dues

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Development Authority has announced a crackdown on commercial entities that have not cleared millions of rupees in government dues, warning that no-objection certificates of several major properties may be cancelled without further notice before Eidul Azha.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the authority said it was launching what it described as a final operation against illegal commercial activity and property owners who have failed to pay outstanding land-use conversion charges despite repeated notices.

Director Planning and Development Control Asghar Memon expressed concern over the continued non-payment of dues and urged defaulters to clear their liabilities immediately. He warned that failure to do so could lead to strict measures, including cancellation of NOCs and legal action.

According to the HDA statement, reminders and notices had already been sent through multiple channels, but the defaulters continued to show what officials called a persistent irresponsible attitude, prompting the authority to move ahead with enforcement action in what it said was the public interest.
