Dar lauds Pakistan missions as government pushes results-oriented diplomacy

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Friday appreciated the performance of Pakistan’s diplomatic missions abroad, particularly their efforts in advancing the country’s diplomatic, consular and economic priorities amid evolving regional developments, according to a statement issued by the Foreign Office (FO).
Chairing a committee meeting to review the performance of Pakistan’s missions worldwide, the deputy prime minister commended their role in projecting Pakistan’s foreign policy objectives and supporting national interests across key global forums.

He stressed the need to further strengthen coordination between headquarters and missions abroad, and called for a more focused, results-oriented diplomatic approach to ensure improved outcomes and optimal utilization of available resources.
Dar directed that these efforts be sustained and further enhanced in line with national foreign policy objectives to maximize impact and effectiveness.
The meeting was attended by Minister of State Bilal Kiyani, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch, and senior officials from the Ministries of Finance, Commerce, Cabinet and Foreign Affairs.
ECNEC approves key development projects under Dar’s chairmanship
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Friday chaired a meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC), which approved a range of development projects across provinces and regions, aimed at strengthening infrastructure and addressing social sector needs, according to a press release.

Key initiatives included detailed design work for ML-1, Havelian Dry Port, Lowari Tunnel access roads, Thar Coal Rail Connectivity, Kachhi Canal, irrigation improvements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Jinnah Hospital Islamabad, Sindh Human Capital 1000 Days Programme, Sindh flood rehabilitation support, and arrangements related to Diamer Basha Dam.
The deputy prime minister reiterated the government’s commitment to infrastructure development, improved public service delivery, regional balance and long-term economic resilience.
The meeting was attended by the Minister for Finance and Revenue, Minister for Planning and Development, Minister for Planning Punjab, Minister for Irrigation Sindh, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, Secretary EAD, Secretary Health, Secretary Water, Secretary Planning, and senior officials of relevant ministries.

The meeting reviewed progress under the programme and expressed satisfaction over its implementation status. It also directed that any savings generated from previous years be reallocated within the same sector and respective provinces to ensure continued development impact.
Dar emphasized the importance of engaging local communities in identifying development schemes to ensure that SAP funds are utilized effectively and in the best interest of the public.
The meeting was attended by the Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC), Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, MNA Shazia Marri, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, Secretary Cabinet Division, and senior officials from relevant ministries.
