'Tell Pakistan': Abdul Sattar Edhi’s grandson sends chilling final message before flotilla interception

The last recorded message of Saad Edhi, grandson of humanitarian icon Abdul Sattar Edhi, has surfaced online after reports that the Gaza-bound aid flotilla he was part of was intercepted at sea.

In the video, Saad Edhi directly addressed viewers, saying that if the message is being seen, it means the flotilla carrying humanitarian assistance to Gaza has been intercepted, and he urged the government of Pakistan to ensure the safe return of those involved.

“If the world is watching this video, it means the flotilla has been intercepted by Israel, and it is the responsibility of the Pakistan government to bring them safely back to Pakistan.” he said in the video.

He was part of the Global Sumud Flotilla, a multinational civilian mission carrying food and relief supplies toward Gaza. The convoy included around 500 international activists from multiple countries, according to mission organisers.

Saad Edhi joined the flotilla from Marmaris, Turkey, as part of the aid effort. He is the son of Faisal Edhi and grandson of Abdul Sattar Edhi, whose legacy is widely associated with humanitarian work across Pakistan and beyond.

Reports circulating around the mission claim that Israeli naval vessels intercepted the flotilla in international waters, approximately 250 nautical miles from Gaza, preventing it from continuing its journey.

The interception has triggered strong reactions online, with many users describing the situation as deeply troubling and questioning the blocking of humanitarian aid efforts. Others framed it as part of a broader geopolitical and humanitarian crisis surrounding access to Gaza.

The Global Sumud Flotilla has maintained that its mission was peaceful and focused solely on delivering aid, calling for safe passage for civilian vessels involved in the operation.

As the situation develops, attention has turned to the status of those onboard and the diplomatic response expected from participating countries, including Pakistan.
