Bangladeshi civil officers visit NIPA for study tour, training exchange

ISLAMABAD: A 12-member delegation of senior civil officers from Bangladesh visited the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA) on Monday as part of a foreign study tour programme focused on professional exchange and cooperation in public administration and civil service training.

The delegation was headed by Salma Siddiqua Mahtab, Additional Secretary in Bangladesh’s Health Services Division. The visit brought together officials from Pakistan’s public sector training institutions and the visiting officers for discussions on training systems and institutional practices.

Briefing on training and planning

During the visit, Director General Spatial Planning at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Ijaz Sheikh gave the delegation a briefing on modern training methods, course structures, study programmes and capacity-building efforts being carried out by the National School of Public Policy (NSPP) and its constituent units.

He also informed the Bangladeshi officers about Islamabad’s urban planning framework and future expansion strategies. The exchange covered professional training arrangements as well as institutional best practices, with the visit serving as a platform for both sides to share views on administrative learning and public sector capacity development.

Senior officials attend event

The event was attended by senior officers and faculty members of the NSPP and the Civil Services Academy. Those present included Director General Civil Services Academy and NSPP Rector Farhan Aziz Khawaja, as well as the director generals of NIPA Peshawar, NIPA Quetta and NIPA.

The visit formed part of efforts aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two sides in the area of civil service training. The programme also highlighted the role of institutional engagement in improving administrative learning and sharing professional experience.

In his concluding remarks, NSPP Rector Farhan Aziz Khawaja stressed the importance of collaboration among civil service training institutions. He highlighted the value of academic exchange, institutional cooperation and partnerships between training academies involved in preparing public officials.

The visit concluded after discussions centred on training models, course delivery and broader cooperation in the field of public administration. The interaction reflected an emphasis on professional exchange between Pakistan’s training institutions and the visiting Bangladeshi delegation.
