He said the constable was targeted in front of her family, adding that the attackers fired 31 bullets at the innocent family in what he described as a “heinous and brutal act of terrorism.”
“Attacks on women and children reflect the cowardice of terrorists, and ‘Fitna al-Hindustan’ shows no regard for innocent lives,” he said.
Yousafzai said Constable Shakeela sacrificed her life for the country and her martyrdom would not go in vain. He added that the people of Balochistan and security forces were united against terrorism, and militant elements were nearing their logical end.
He further said morale among female police personnel remained high and that the fight against terrorism would continue.
According to the spokesperson, “Fitna al-Hindustan” also aimed to deprive Baloch youth of education, alleging that targeting women personnel and teachers was a form of open terrorism.
Prof Ghamkhwar Hayat killed in a separate incident
He said Prof Ghamkhwar Hayat was also killed in a separate incident the same morning, while concerns remained over the alleged abduction of Vice Chancellor of Gwadar University Dr Razaq Sabir and Dr Manzoor by “Fitna al-Hindustan.”
Yousafzai added that the intent of terrorists was to spread fear and disrupt education in Balochistan, but said the people of the province had rejected their agenda of violence and ignorance.
He said terrorists aimed to create unrest and deprive the youth of opportunities, but added that citizens, teachers and security forces remained united against militancy.
According to police, the incident occurred near the Absar Research Farm area of Turbat, where Constable Shakeela was travelling on a motorcycle with her husband, Sunil Jan, and their child when unidentified assailants opened indiscriminate fire on them.
As a result, Constable Shakeela was martyred on the spot, while her husband and child sustained serious injuries. Police said a case had been registered and a search operation was underway to arrest the attackers, while security had been tightened at entry and exit points of the city.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz, President Asif Zardari and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi paid tribute to the martyred constable, saying she had sacrificed her life while performing her duty.
