Elderly man shot dead in suspected old enmity attack

CHINIOT: A man was shot dead in a firing incident that police believe may be connected to an old enmity, officials said on Friday.

Police identified the deceased as Waris, a resident of Chak No. 186 JB. According to police officials, he was attacked by unidentified assailants and died at the scene. They said he was believed to be between 55 and 60 years old.

After being informed of the incident, senior police officers, DSP Bhowana and investigation teams reached the site. Police said forensic evidence was collected from the scene as part of the inquiry.

Initial findings by investigators suggest the killing may have stemmed from a feud linked to an earlier murder case. However, police said they were also looking into other possible motives and had not limited the investigation to a single angle.

Investigation under way

Police said the attackers had not been identified at the time of the initial inquiry. Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the shooting while reviewing whether the incident was the result of a long-running personal dispute.
