Karachi court grants three-day remand of alleged drug kingpin 'Pinky'

KARACHI: A local court in Karachi on Wednesday granted a three-day physical remand of alleged drug peddler Anmol alias “Pinky” in a narcotics case registered by Karachi South Police, a day after she had been sent to jail on judicial remand.

Police had approached the court again seeking custody of the suspect, arguing that further investigation was required to trace the source of the cocaine supply, examine her financial network and conduct a Criminal Record Office check.

According to police, Pinky was arrested from Karachi’s Garden area and had been absconding in at least 10 separate cases. Investigators claimed to have recovered cocaine, weapons and other narcotics worth approximately Rs1.5 million from her possession.

Authorities alleged that she was operating a drug supply network in the port city and maintained links with multiple associates involved in narcotics distribution.

During the hearing, officials informed the court that details of previous cases against the suspect had also been collected as part of the ongoing probe.

Separately, investigators said they recovered several audio recordings from Pinky’s mobile phone, including an alleged voice note in which she warned associates about the possibility of her arrest or death and indicated that another individual would continue managing operations through the same contact number.

In another development, the SSP South was removed from the inquiry into matters surrounding Pinky’s court appearance and replaced by Irfan Baloch, according to an official notification.

DIG West has been tasked with investigating all issues that emerged during Tuesday’s proceedings, including alleged protocol violations, and has been directed to submit a report within three days.

Police authorities said strict action would be taken against any officers found guilty of negligence or misconduct.
