Sindh announces summer vacations for schools from June 1 to July 31
The Sindh Education Department has announced summer vacations for all public and private schools from June 1 to July 31. The decision comes amid a hot spell and weather warnings about heatwaves and other severe conditions.

KARACHI: The Sindh Education Department said on Monday that summer vacations for schools across the province will be observed from June 1 to July 31.
According to an official statement, the schedule will apply to all public and private schools in Sindh.
The announcement came hours after Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat unveiled the summer vacation timetable for schools in Punjab. In a statement issued earlier in the day, Hayat said the holidays in Punjab would start on May 22.
He added that the break would continue until August 23, giving students more than three months away from school.
Heat spell prompts relief for students and teachers
The decision in Sindh comes as students and teachers face a period of intense heat, with temperatures expected to stay elevated in the coming days.
The Met Office has warned that heatwaves, flash floods, urban flooding and windstorms may affect several parts of the country in the months ahead.
The weather department has also cautioned that increasing temperatures could lead to strong winds, dust storms and hailstorms, with possible effects on seasonal crops, vegetables and orchards.
The Sindh Education Department’s statement did not provide further details beyond the dates and the scope of the decision, but confirmed that both government-run and privately managed schools would follow the same summer break schedule.
Earlier on Monday, Punjab’s education minister announced a longer vacation period for schools in that province. He said the holidays would begin on May 22 and continue until August 23.
The back-to-back announcements from Sindh and Punjab came amid continuing concerns over the impact of high temperatures and severe weather patterns. The Met Office’s warning highlighted multiple risks for the coming months, including heatwaves and weather-related disruptions in urban and rural areas.
Officials said the Sindh schedule covers all schools in the province, making no distinction between public and private institutions. The move is expected to provide relief during the hot spell as weather authorities continue to caution about extreme conditions.
