Man kills three, himself after marriage proposal rejection

LAHORE: A man shot dead a woman and her two children before taking his own life in the Mozang area, with police linking the attack to a rejected marriage proposal.

According to Mozang SHO Malik Khalid Mehmood, the suspect, identified as Shahid Mahmood, allegedly forced his way into a third-floor apartment near Begum Road in the early hours of Saturday and opened fire on the occupants.

The victims included Ayesha Bibi and her 21-year-old daughter, both of whom died from gunshot wounds. An eight-year-old boy also succumbed to injuries, while an 11-year-old girl was wounded and remains under treatment.

Police said the attacker later shot himself at the scene.

The FIR, registered on the complaint of the victim’s son-in-law Moeez Khan, states that the suspect had developed a grudge after his marriage proposal was rejected by the family.

Investigators said the attack appeared premeditated, though other motives, including personal enmity and property disputes, were also being examined.

Forensic teams collected evidence from the apartment, including spent bullet casings, while statements from witnesses and relatives are being recorded to establish the sequence of events.

Police said the bodies were shifted for post-mortem examination and the case has been handed over to the investigation wing for further inquiry.
