Islamabad has opened six cattle markets for Eidul Azha, with their annual auction generating a record Rs349.50 million. The amount is up from Rs114.21 million last year, reflecting a 206 per cent increase.

ISLAMABAD: Six cattle markets have been opened across the federal capital for Eidul Azha this year, with the latest auction of market tenders bringing in the highest revenue recorded so far.
The Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) of the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) generated Rs349.50 million from the annual auction of the six cattle markets, up from Rs114.21 million in 2025 to Rs349.50 million this year. The increase comes to Rs235.29 million, representing a 206 per cent rise over the previous year.
The six cattle markets were auctioned at rates exceeding 200 per cent compared to last year. A total of 104 bidders from across the country took part in the auction process.
I-12 market leads revenue collection
Among the six sites, the I-12 Mandi emerged as the biggest contributor to revenue. Its auction fetched Rs200.10 million this year, compared to Rs52.65 million in 2025, marking an increase of 280 per cent.
Sanjani Mandi also posted higher returns, with revenue rising from Rs47 million last year to Rs62.1 million this year. This reflected an increase of 32 per cent.
Zia Masjid Mandi recorded one of the sharpest jumps in value. Its auction amount climbed from Rs5.10 million in 2025 to Rs50 million this year, an 880 per cent increase.
Higher returns from annual auction
The annual auction of cattle market tenders is a key source of revenue for the municipal administration in the capital during the Eidul Azha season, when temporary livestock markets are set up to facilitate the sale and purchase of sacrificial animals.
This year’s figures show a substantial rise in receipts for the civic body compared to the previous auction cycle. The participation of 104 bidders from different parts of the country also pointed to strong interest in the market contracts.
With the six markets now operational, the municipal administration has secured significantly higher revenue from the auction process than in previous years.
