Are petrol pumps shutting down from tomorrow? Petroleum Division issues statement
The Petroleum Division has rejected reports that petrol pumps will shut from May 1 due to a fuel shortage. It said petroleum supplies will continue uninterrupted and urged people not to spread panic through fake propaganda.

ISLAMABAD: The Petroleum Division on Thursday rejected reports claiming that petrol stations across the country would close from May 1 because of a fuel shortage, saying supplies of petroleum products would continue without disruption.
In a statement posted on X, the division said "There is no truth to reports of the closure of petrol pumps from May 1. The supply of petroleum products will continue uninterrupted."
The clarification came amid circulating claims that filling stations were set to suspend operations due to a shortage of fuel. The Petroleum Division said such reports were incorrect and urged against the spread of misinformation that could create unnecessary concern among the public.
The division said "Spreading panic among the people through fake propaganda should be avoided."
It further stated that the uninterrupted availability of petroleum products had been maintained in the country since the start of the war in the Middle East. The division said arrangements had been in place to ensure continued supply during that period, and the availability of petroleum products would also be maintained going forward.
The statement did not indicate any disruption in the supply chain and reiterated the government’s position that petroleum products remained available. By issuing the clarification, the Petroleum Division sought to counter reports suggesting an imminent shutdown of petrol pumps from the start of May.
The division’s statement focused on two points: first, that reports of a nationwide closure of petrol stations from May 1 were false; and second, that the supply of petroleum products would remain uninterrupted. It also linked the assurance to the broader regional situation, noting that supplies had continued since the outbreak of war in the Middle East.
However, the Petroleum Division made clear that petroleum supplies had been ensured so far and would continue to be ensured in the future as well.
Official clarification issued
The Petroleum Division’s response was issued publicly on Thursday through its official X account. The statement directly addressed the reports about a possible closure of petrol pumps and described them as untrue.
It also called for restraint in sharing unverified claims, saying panic should not be spread among the public through false propaganda. The division maintained that petroleum product supply across the country would continue uninterrupted.
