FAISALABAD: A container driver died after suffering an electric shock when his vehicle came into contact with overhead power lines while reversing on Jaranwala Road, according to police.
The incident took place near 209 Phatak, where 38-year-old Amir Hayat was reversing the container when it struck live electric wires. Police said the driver and the vehicle’s 22-year-old conductor, Muhammad Younis, both received a severe electric shock and fell unconscious.
Both men were initially provided medical aid and were then being transported to hospital. However, Amir Hayat did not survive his injuries and died on the way. Muhammad Younis was shifted to hospital in an unconscious condition.
Police took the body into custody after the incident. After completing legal formalities, the body was handed over to the deceased driver’s heirs.
Incident near 209 Phatak
According to the details reported, the accident occurred when the container was being reversed near 209 Phatak on Jaranwala Road and came into contact with overhead electric wires. The contact exposed both the driver and conductor to a powerful electric current.
The report identified the deceased as Amir Hayat, 38, and the injured conductor as Muhammad Younis, 22. Both men lost consciousness after the shock. While Younis was moved to hospital for treatment, Hayat succumbed to his injuries before he could be admitted.
Police action after the accident
Police said the body was taken into custody following the driver’s death. Once the required legal procedure was completed, the remains were handed over to the family.
