She directed the Punjab Labour Department and other relevant institutions to initiate strict action against individuals and industrial units found violating workplace safety laws.

The Punjab CM described workplace safety, occupational health and labour welfare as fundamental pillars of national progress, reiterating her government’s firm commitment to the protection, rehabilitation and well-being of workers across Punjab.

She said ensuring workers’ safety and safeguarding public health remained among the Punjab government’s top priorities, adding that strict compliance with safety protocols and the use of protective equipment was essential to shield labourers from occupational hazards.

“A healthy and safe worker can build a strong nation,” the chief minister said, urging industrialists and business owners to place workers’ safety and welfare at the centre of their operational priorities.

Highlighting the need to foster a culture of safety in factories, offices and workplaces, she said amendments were being introduced in labour laws to further strengthen protections for workers and improve workplace standards.

The chief minister said financial assistance was currently being extended to 1.4 million workers through ration cards on a monthly basis, adding that an additional 50,000 labourers would be issued ration cards during the current fiscal year.

Describing the labour force as a valuable national asset, she said the health and safety of workers could not be compromised under any circumstances.

“It is the government’s responsibility to protect the life and property of labourers and ensure a safe working environment,” she said.

CM Maryam Nawaz also stressed that the implementation of internationally recognised safety standards was crucial to preventing workplace accidents and minimising occupational risks.

She reaffirmed her resolve to create a working environment where labourers feel secure both physically and mentally, warning that factories neglecting workers’ health and safety would face strict penalties under the law.
