Cash, valuables over Rs7m looted in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Robbers and burglars made off with cash and valuables worth more than Rs7 million in separate incidents reported from different parts of the federal capital, police said.

According to police, one of the incidents took place in Soan Garden, where Mohammad Usman Janjua was targeted after the tyre of his car got punctured. The incident occurred near Block H of the housing society while he was changing the tyre.

Police said three men arrived on a motorcycle and held him at gunpoint. They then took Rs305,000 in cash and a mobile phone before fleeing the scene.

In another incident, three robbers deprived Shah Nawaz of cash and mobile phones at Rawal Dam, police said.

A separate robbery was reported in F-7/4, where three armed men allegedly snatched cash, a mobile phone and a motorcycle from Junaid Maqsood, according to police.

Police also said that another group of robbers struck in the Sar-e-Kharboza area, where they took away a motorcycle, cash and a mobile phone worth Rs244,000 from Ahsan and his friend.

In Shah Allah Ditta, Azaz Ali was reportedly robbed of his motorcycle, police added.

Multiple areas affected

The incidents were reported from a range of localities, including Soan Garden, Rawal Dam, F-7/4, Sar-e-Kharboza and Shah Allah Ditta, indicating that the robberies were not confined to a single part of the city.

Police said the combined losses from robberies and burglaries in these incidents exceeded Rs7 million. The reported cases involved cash, mobile phones and motorcycles taken from victims in separate episodes.

No further details were provided in the police account beyond the locations of the incidents, the items taken and the identities of the affected individuals named in the reports.
