Tahir Ashrafi heckled in London

LONDON: Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) Chairman Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi was heckled by a group of overseas Pakistanis in central London on Saturday, in an incident he linked to supporters of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI).

According to circulating video clips on social media, Ashrafi was surrounded by a group reportedly affiliated with the Insaf Students Federation (ISF) while walking on Edgware Road.

The group followed him for around 10 minutes, during which a heated exchange took place.

Speaking to media, Ashrafi said he was “attacked and harassed” while going for dinner with colleagues, describing the incident as unacceptable and condemnable. He added that such actions would not intimidate him.

He further claimed that the behaviour of the group had caused damage to PTI’s public image.

Ashrafi also reiterated his support for Pakistan’s current leadership and said government policies had strengthened the country’s international standing. He praised senior state leadership, stating he remained committed to defending both civilian and military institutions.
