Four killed, five injured in separate incidents in Dera Murad Jamali

DERA MURAD JAMALI: Four people, including a woman and a child, were killed and five others were injured in separate incidents reported on Saturday in Dera Murad Jamali, Chhatter and Sohbatpur, according to police.

Police said one of the incidents took place in the Sherani area of Chhatter, where a land dispute between the Jakhrani and Chakarani tribes escalated into an exchange of gunfire. Authorities identified the deceased as Bakhsh Ali Jakhrani. Two other people were injured in the clash.

In another incident, police said a woman was shot dead by armed men in Goth Sher. No further details were provided in the report about the circumstances of the attack.

Separately, a three-year-old boy, identified by authorities as Rawal Khan Jat, drowned in the Pat Feeder Canal near Dera Murad Jamali. Officials said the child’s body was retrieved from the canal and shifted to the Teaching Hospital. After necessary formalities, the body was handed over to the family.

In Sohbatpur, the driver of a tractor-trolley lost his life when the vehicle overturned in Goth Muhammad Ismail Khoso, police said. The driver died at the scene.

Another person was injured in a separate altercation in Goth Liaquat Laghari. Police described the injured person as a young man.

Separate incidents reported across three areas

The casualties were reported from multiple locations, with the incidents involving different causes, including a tribal clash, a shooting, a drowning and a road accident. Police said the deaths included a man killed in firing linked to a land dispute, a woman killed in a separate shooting, a child who drowned in a canal, and a tractor-trolley driver who died when his vehicle overturned.

The injuries were also spread across separate incidents. Two people were wounded in the tribal clash in Chhatter, while another young man was injured in a fight in Goth Liaquat Laghari. The overall toll given by police was four dead and five injured in the incidents reported from Dera Murad Jamali, Chhatter and Sohbatpur.

Authorities did not provide additional details in the report regarding the identities of all the injured or any further action taken in connection with the separate cases.
