Benjamin Netanyahu diagnosed with prostate cancer

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday said he had been diagnosed with early-stage prostate cancer and had completed treatment, confirming doctors now consider him cancer-free.

The 76-year-old disclosed that he underwent targeted radiation therapy after a malignant tumour measuring less than one centimetre was detected, with medical reports stating there were no signs of metastasis. His office also released letters from doctors confirming the cancer was “very small” and has since “disappeared completely.”

The disclosure follows an earlier medical update in December 2024, when his office had said he underwent surgery for an enlarged prostate. The latest diagnosis was identified months later, with treatment beginning around 10 weeks ago, according to a source familiar with the matter.

In a video message shared on social media, he said the condition had been fully treated and described it as a minor medical issue that is now behind him. He added that he is currently in good health following the completion of therapy.

He also addressed a delay of nearly two months in releasing his annual health update, stating the decision was made to avoid what he described as potential propaganda during a period of heightened tensions involving Iran.

Doctors overseeing the treatment confirmed there is no remaining evidence of the tumour and said the recovery is complete, with no further complications reported.
