SARAI ALAMGIR: The things we do for love—or for a passing grade. In a story that sounds like a plot from a low-budget comedy, a man in the Sarai Alamgir area of Gujrat was arrested by Punjab Police after he was caught attempting to sit for an examination while disguised as a woman.
The suspect, whose identity hasn't been officially fully released but whose "disguise" is already legendary, reportedly arrived at the center wearing a mask, a ladies' suit, and a dupatta. His goal? To impersonate his girlfriend and clear her exam for her.
According to local reports and social media chatter, the man actually managed to enter the hall and start the paper. He had clearly put in the effort—opting for a full feminine ensemble to blend in. However, the plan hit a major snag during the verification process.
Despite the mask and the makeup, the "candidate" failed to pass the final boss of modern testing: biometric verification. When his fingerprints didn't match the record of the female student he was supposed to be, the jig was officially up.
Punjab Police officials confirmed the arrest, stating that the individual was taken into custody for impersonation and forgery. While he might have thought he was being a "hero" for his girlfriend, he now faces legal consequences that definitely won't look good on a resume.
This isn't the first time such an incident has happened in the region. Just a couple of years ago, a similar case in Faridkot, India, went viral when a man named Angrez Singh tried the exact same thing—red bangles, bindi, and all. It seems the "disguise for the girlfriend" move is a classic failing strategy that keeps popping up.
The takeaway? If you love someone, buy them flowers or help them study—but maybe leave the dupatta and the exam fraud at home.
