TV drama just jumped off-screen. Javeria Saud has fired back — without taking names — after Tabish Hashmi criticised viral Ramadan show content, calling it “cringe” and questioning the use of allegedly staged calls.
It all started when Tabish, speaking to Nadia Khan on 365 News, took aim at what he described as over-the-top tactics used in some Ramadan transmissions. He said that while he understands the pressure of ratings, relying on things like planted calls and exaggerated segments isn’t “graceful,” adding that such shows sometimes end up looking more like meme content than meaningful programming.
He didn’t name anyone. But the internet? It did the math instantly.
Soon after, Javeria Saud dropped a cryptic Instagram post — and it wasn’t subtle.
“Look who is talking,” she began, before going in on people who, according to her, spend the entire year using “ghair ikhlaqi mazak” (inappropriate humor) and insulting others just to stay ahead in the ratings game.

She suggested that some critics simply couldn’t handle being outperformed during Ramadan, writing that even after the month ended, they were still busy criticising shows that had surpassed them. Translation: this isn’t about content — it’s about competition.
And while she didn’t name Tabish either, social media had already connected the dots. The comments section turned into a mini courtroom.
“Tabish ne naam hi nahi liya, phir itni offence kyun?” one user questioned. Another added, “Agar naam nahi liya toh matlab baat wahin lag rahi hai.” And then came the 'classic': “Chor ki darhi mein jharu.”
Others pointed out that the formats aren’t even comparable — a Ramadan transmission versus a comedy show — while some took it further, suggesting that reacting so strongly may have indirectly confirmed the “planted calls” narrative.
Messy? A little. Entertaining? Definitely. What started as a general comment about TV content has now turned into a full-blown, name-without-naming showdown — the kind Pakistani television thrives on. Because in the world of ratings, sometimes the real drama isn’t in the show.
