Bahawalpur land record digitisation in notified mauzas nears completion

BAHAWALPUR: Commissioner Bahawalpur Division Irfan Ali Kathia chaired a meeting on Saturday to review progress on land record digitisation being carried out under the Punjab Land Record Authority.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Punjab Land Record Authority Director General Ikramul Haq and deputy commissioners from across the division. Revenue officers also joined the session through video link.
During the meeting, the commissioner was briefed on the pace of work related to the digitisation of land records in the division. According to the details shared in the meeting, the process in notified mauzas of Bahawalpur Division is close to completion.
Review meeting held on digitisation progress
Addressing participants, Kathia said the digitisation initiative had brought major improvements to the revenue system. He said the process had helped enhance transparency, cut delays in revenue-related cases and improve accountability.
He told the meeting that the digitisation of land records in notified mauzas of the division was nearing completion. The review session was part of ongoing oversight of the project under the Punjab Land Record Authority.
Senior administrative and revenue officials from the division took part in the discussion, while officers from different districts joined remotely to provide updates on implementation.
Officials discuss impact on revenue administration
The commissioner said the shift toward digital land records had contributed to a more transparent system and had also supported quicker handling of revenue matters. He further noted that accountability within the revenue administration had been strengthened through the digitisation process.
Director General PLRA Ikramul Haq was among the senior officials present at the meeting, alongside deputy commissioners representing districts across Bahawalpur Division. Revenue officers participated through video link, allowing district-level input during the review.
The meeting focused on assessing the current status of the digitisation drive and reviewing progress made so far in the notified mauzas. Officials discussed the implementation under the Punjab Land Record Authority framework as the work approaches its final stages in the division.
