K-Electric names Shaheryar Chishti chairman of its board
K-Electric has appointed Shaheryar Chishti as chairman of its board of directors, according to a disclosure filed with the PSX. The move follows recent leadership changes at the utility, including the appointment of a new CEO in March.

KARACHI: K-Electric has appointed Shaheryar Chishti as the new chairman of its board of directors, according to a disclosure submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Wednesday.
In the filing, the company said: “We are pleased to notify you that following the election of directors during the extraordinary general meeting held on April 2, 2026, the board of directors, in its meeting held on April 15, 2026, has appointed Shaheryar Chishty as the chairman of the board.”
The disclosure further stated, “You may please inform the TRE Certificate holders of the exchange accordingly.”
The appointment follows the election of directors at K-Electric’s extraordinary general meeting earlier this month. The board then took up the matter in its April 15 meeting, where Chishti was named chairman, the company said in the PSX notice.
According to Chishti’s profile on K-Electric’s website, he has spent many years working in investment banking. The profile also says he has served on the boards of several power distribution companies on a pro bono basis.
Recent leadership changes at K-Electric
The latest board-level appointment comes after a change in the company’s executive leadership in March. At that time, K-Electric named Syed Taha as its new chief executive officer, replacing interim CEO Adeeb Ahmad.
Ahmad had taken over as interim chief executive on February 13 after the company’s previous CEO, Moonis Alvi, stepped down. Alvi resigned days after then Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori gave him a clean chit in a workplace harassment case.
K-Electric’s latest disclosure to the stock exchange did not provide further details beyond the formal notification of Chishti’s appointment and the instruction for the exchange to inform TRE Certificate holders.
The development marks another change in the utility’s top leadership structure within a short span, following the earlier transition in the chief executive’s office and now the appointment of a new chairman for the board.
“We are pleased to notify you that following the election of directors during the extraordinary general meeting held on April 2, 2026, the board of directors, in its meeting held on April 15, 2026, has appointed Shaheryar Chishty as the chairman of the board”, the statement added.
With the appointment now formally disclosed to the PSX, Chishti assumes the role of chairman of the board at the power utility.
