LAHORE: The Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has officially reaffirmed its confidence in the leadership of Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) President Syed Mohsen Gilani.
Following a high-level summit at FIFA Headquarters in Zurich, FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström lauded the rapid progress made under Gilani’s tenure, marking a pivotal moment in the nation’s journey toward international footballing credibility.
The meeting was characterized by a shared optimism for the future. Grafström specifically highlighted the recent exploits of the Pakistan Women’s National Team in the FIFA Series, describing their performance as a "significant milestone" that proves the country’s developmental trajectory is on the right path.
In response, President Gilani extended his gratitude to FIFA President Gianni Infantino, acknowledging that the global body’s unwavering support has been the backbone of Pakistan’s current restructuring and revival phase.
Beyond the accolades, the discussion delved into the technicalities of the PFF’s "New Era." Sources close to the meeting indicate that the dialogue focused on three critical pillars: Institutional Governance: Solidifying the reforms initiated over the past year.
Infrastructure Overhaul: Gilani identified the lack of world-class facilities as the primary hurdle in nurturing Pakistan’s raw talent. Domestic Pathways: Enhancing the domestic structure to ensure a steady pipeline of talent for international duty.
During the session, the PFF chief presented a comprehensive performance report detailing the federation’s activities over the past several months. The dossier outlined the successful expansion of international engagement and the strategic steps taken to stabilize the internal footballing ecosystem.
"The strides made within a single year are commendable," Grafström noted, reiterating FIFA’s commitment to providing the necessary tools to ensure Pakistan’s growth is not just rapid, but sustainable.
