Father, two sons drown in Ravi
A father and his two sons drowned in the Ravi River near Sheikhupura on Monday, Rescue 1122 officials said. The bodies were recovered after a four-hour search operation and handed over to relatives.
NAROWAL: A father and his two sons drowned while swimming in the River Ravi at Kala Khatai Road siphon near Sheikhupura on Monday.
A spokesperson for Rescue 1122 Sheikhupura said Shahbaz (36), along with his sons Azhar (14) and Mudassar (13) and his wife, had gone to the riverbank for recreation.
Rescue and Safety Officer Syed Waqarul Hassan said, quoting the wife of Shahbaz who witnessed the incident, that Mudassar first entered deeper water and began drowning.
She stated that Shahbaz and his elder son jumped in to rescue him but both were also pulled under and drowned in the process.
Upon receiving information from locals, Rescue 1122 teams reached the site and launched a search operation.
After a four-hour operation, rescuers recovered the bodies of all three deceased using modern search equipment, the spokesperson said.
Rescue 1122 completed the necessary legal formalities and handed over the bodies to the family.
