Two killed, woman injured in Quetta firing

QUETTA: Two men were shot dead and a woman was injured when unidentified gunmen opened fire in the Sariab area of Quetta late on Saturday evening, according to police.

Police said the attack took place on Sariab Road, located on the outskirts of the city. The assailants opened fire, killing Muhammad Ali and Naseer Ahmed at the scene.

A woman who was passing through the area at the time of the shooting was also hit by a bullet and sustained injuries. Police identified her as a resident of Sariab.

After receiving information about the incident, police personnel reached the site, sealed off the area and began initial action. The bodies of the two men and the injured woman were shifted to a hospital.

Police said that once the required legal formalities were completed, the bodies were handed over to the heirs.

The motive behind the attack is believed to be linked to an old enmity, police said, adding that an investigation is in progress.

Law enforcement officials moved to the area soon after the shooting was reported and secured the scene. Police have not identified the attackers, who were described as unidentified armed men.
