Pasban Democratic Party condemns prolonged gas load-shedding in Karachi
PDP leaders in Karachi have condemned prolonged gas load-shedding, saying residents face 15 to 16 hours of outages daily. They said higher bills and limited supply are worsening hardship for households.

KARACHI: Leaders of the Pasban Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday criticised the prolonged gas load-shedding in Karachi, describing the situation as sheer injustice and saying it has made daily life extremely difficult for residents across the city.
PDP Karachi President Abdul Hakim, along with district presidents Salman Nawab, Shakir Ali and Sajawal Khan Marwat, spoke to delegations at the Pasban Secretariat and highlighted what they said were widespread disruptions to domestic life due to the ongoing outages.
According to the party leaders, households in different parts of the metropolis are facing gas outages lasting 15 to 16 hours each day. They said consumers are being billed at nearly double the previous amount despite receiving gas for only around nine hours a day.
The PDP leaders said this has placed an additional burden on citizens who are already struggling under difficult economic conditions. They warned that a large number of residents are living below the poverty line and are finding it increasingly hard to manage routine household needs in the absence of a regular gas supply.
They said the shortage has disrupted normal domestic routines across the city, affecting families that depend on gas for everyday use. In their remarks, the leaders said many citizens are being left with little choice but to purchase costly LPG cylinders or turn to restaurant food, both of which they said are beyond the financial means of many households.
Concerns over rising hardship
The party leaders said the prolonged interruptions in gas supply have added to public hardship at a time when many families are already under financial pressure. They maintained that the combination of reduced supply and higher billing has intensified difficulties for residents in Karachi.
During their interaction with delegations at the Pasban Secretariat, the PDP representatives said the issue has become a serious concern for households throughout the metropolis. They reiterated that the current pattern of gas load-shedding is causing widespread inconvenience and increasing the cost of living for ordinary citizens.
The leaders urged attention to the difficulties being faced by residents, saying the prolonged gas outages have made life unbearable for many people in the city.
