Pakistan emerges global peace driver as Nawaz hails Iran–US ceasefire

 LAHORE: PML-N President Nawaz Sharif on Friday said Pakistan has attained a distinctive position on the global stage, emerging as a strong proponent of peace.

During a meeting with Sindh Governor Syed Nihal Hashmi, Nawaz Sharif welcomed the ceasefire between Iran and the United States, describing it as a positive development for global peace and stability. He noted that Pakistan, as a responsible state, played an important role in promoting peace.

He paid tribute to the diplomatic efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, adding that under Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership, the country achieved notable success on the diplomatic front.

Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan has consistently played an active and constructive role in promoting regional peace, and welcomed the decision by Iran and the United States to resolve their differences through dialogue. He emphasised that global conflicts are settled through diplomacy and negotiations, not war.

He further said Pakistan has once again conveyed a message of peace to the world, adding that the current government has helped improve the country’s global image. He expressed confidence that Pakistan’s efforts would prove to be a significant milestone in fostering stability in the region.

Urging the international community to seize the opportunity, Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan has always stood for peace, development, and stability. He expressed hope that the ceasefire would pave the way for lasting global peace, adding that Pakistan has demonstrated its ability to play a positive role even in challenging circumstances.
