KURRAM/MOHMAND: Four people were killed in two separate roof collapse incidents in Kurram district after torrential rain on Thursday, while heavy rainfall and flash floods also caused damage in Mohmand, according to officials and a Rescue 1122 press release.

In the first incident in the Durrani area of Lower Kurram, three siblings died when the roof of a house gave way. District administration officials said the deceased included two sisters, aged five and eight, and their 11-year-old brother.

In another incident in Zeeran Tajik village on the outskirts of Parachinar, a two-year-old boy was killed after a roof collapsed, while another child was injured.

Provincial Disaster Management Authority district coordinator Shiraz Bacha said reports of six roof collapse incidents had been received from different parts of Kurram district.

The report also said authorities have not yet restored the washed-away section of a road in Lower Kurram, leaving thousands of residents stranded in the area.

Damage reported in Mohmand

In neighbouring Mohmand district, heavy rain and flash floods led to widespread destruction, according to a press release issued by Rescue 1122. The statement said houses collapsed, homes were inundated and vehicles were stranded in different areas.

Rescue 1122 teams, working under District Emergency Officer Engineer Khaliq Dad, rescued 29 people and shifted the injured to hospitals after administering first aid, the press release said.

According to unconfirmed reports cited in the Rescue 1122 statement, at least four people were killed in separate incidents involving roof and wall collapses in various areas of Mohmand. The statement added that dozens of vehicles were also pulled out of floodwater and mud.

Authorities urged residents to exercise caution during severe weather and to contact emergency services when needed.

The incidents came amid continuing rain-related disruption in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with Kurram and Mohmand among the affected districts.
