A man was rescued after hanging from a pedestrian bridge on Karachi’s Shaheed Millat Road while holding a poster of Kamran Tessori. Police said he wanted medical treatment and hoped to meet Tessori for assistance.

Karachi: A man was rescued after he suspended himself from a pedestrian bridge on Shaheed Millat Road while holding a poster carrying images of former Sindh governor Kamran Tessori and other senior officials.
The incident was recorded on a mobile phone video and prompted a rapid police response. According to Ferozabad Police, the man had tied ropes and hung himself from the bridge while displaying a banner that, police said, called for Tessori’s reinstatement as governor.
Police said they reached the site after receiving information that the man’s life was in danger. Officers then brought him down from the bridge and shifted him to Ferozabad Police Station.
Man identified by police
Police identified the man as Abdul Hakim, a resident of Landhi Sher Pao Colony.
According to police, Abdul Hakim told authorities that he was suffering from sugar, water retention and other illnesses, and wanted medical treatment. He also told officials that he had seen Tessori’s welfare work on various television channels and wanted to meet him to seek assistance.
Speaking to The Express Tribune, Abdul Hakim said that even if Tessori was unable to arrange treatment for him, he still wanted to meet him. He said he had seen Tessori's welfare work on various TV channels and wished to meet him for assistance.
The banner he was holding featured photographs of Tessori along with other high-ranking officials, according to Ferozabad Police. Police said the message on the banner demanded that Tessori be restored to the office of governor.
