Pakistan condemns Israeli minister’s raid on Al-Aqsa Mosque

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Tuesday strongly condemned the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir, which took place a day earlier.

In an official statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the incident as “a direct assault on the sanctity and historical character of the holy site.” The statement underlined that the act represents a clear violation of international law and relevant United Nations resolutions governing the status of religious sites in Jerusalem.

The ministry termed the event “reprehensible” and firmly rejected “all attempts by the Israeli occupying authorities to alter or undermine the established religious, historical and legal status of Al-Aqsa Mosque.”

Pakistan’s condemnation follows heightened regional sensitivities regarding the protection of Islamic holy sites, with the Ministry reaffirming Islamabad’s commitment to defending their integrity. The statement also emphasized Pakistan’s call for adherence to international law and the continued support for the resolutions safeguarding the status quo of Al-Aqsa.
