KARACHI: Authorities have completed a detailed security plan for the upcoming Pakistan Super League Season 11 matches in Karachi, with more than 5,000 personnel set to be deployed to maintain order and protect teams, spectators and officials.
According to the plan, drone use has been banned in and around the National Bank Stadium. A separate traffic management strategy has also been prepared to help keep vehicle movement smooth during match days.
The arrangements were reviewed at a high-level coordination meeting held at the headquarters of the Special Security Unit (SSU). The meeting was chaired by DIG Security and Emergency Services Division Dr Maqsood Ahmed.
Security deployment plan
Under the security framework, personnel will be assigned not only at the stadium but also at Jinnah International Airport, along routes used by teams and officials, at hotels, practice venues and other locations considered sensitive.
Officials have also decided to place sharpshooters at important points as part of the wider security deployment.
The measures are aimed at ensuring that PSL matches in Karachi are held in a peaceful environment and without disruption. Authorities said all available resources would be used to support the secure and successful staging of the fixtures.
Traffic and venue controls
In addition to the security deployment, the traffic plan has been designed to reduce congestion and facilitate movement in areas linked to the matches. The ban on drones around the National Bank Stadium is part of the broader effort to tighten control over the venue and its surroundings.
The review meeting focused on coordination among relevant units responsible for security and emergency services during the event. The plan covers multiple layers of protection for players, match officials and fans attending the games.
Authorities said the objective of the arrangements is to maintain peace and provide a secure setting throughout the PSL Season 11 matches in Karachi.
