QUETTA: Commercial operations at Gwadar Port received a fresh boost after a major cargo vessel from Malaysia berthed at the port carrying 14,629 metric tonnes of transhipment cargo, officials said on Sunday.
According to details shared by officials, the ship, MV Riva Glory, reached Gwadar Port with a substantial consignment of assorted commercial goods. The arrival was described as another important step in the port’s expanding trade activity.
A spokesperson for Gwadar Port said the vessel had brought several categories of trade goods and that unloading was under way in line with the scheduled plan.
Gwadar Port Authority Chairman Noorul Haq Baloch said the regular arrival of cargo vessels showed that the port was gradually taking shape as a significant centre for regional trade. He said international commercial activity at the port was increasing steadily because of modern facilities, efficient operations and an improved logistics system.
The latest docking signals continued movement in commercial handling at the port, with officials presenting it as part of a broader rise in trade operations. The consignment from Malaysia consisted of transhipment cargo, and port authorities said the unloading process was proceeding according to schedule.
Officials said the arrival of MV Riva Glory marked another development for Gwadar Port’s commercial operations. The port authority maintained that the continued handling of international cargo reflected growing confidence in the port’s infrastructure and operational capacity.
Noorul Haq Baloch said the steady expansion of international trade activity was linked to the facilities and systems now available at the port. He said the ongoing arrival of cargo ships was clear evidence that Gwadar Port was moving forward as a regional trade hub.
The vessel’s arrival from Malaysia added 14,629 metric tonnes of cargo to the port’s handling activity, underscoring what officials described as renewed momentum in commercial operations at Gwadar.
