Kot Lakhpat police have booked four men, including a pharmacy technician, in a case involving the alleged theft of government medicines from Lahore General Hospital. Hospital authorities have also ordered an audit of the medicine inventory.

LAHORE: Kot Lakhpat police have registered a case against a pharmacy technician and three other men over the alleged theft of government medicines from Lahore General Hospital.
The case was lodged on the complaint of Lahore General Hospital Emergency Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr Muhammad Shahid. Those named in the case are Muhammad Arslan, Muhammad Ramadan, Faizan Farooq and Muhammad Bilal.
According to the complaint, the suspects were caught by the hospital administration while stealing medicines. Police registered the case and began an investigation into the matter.
Following the development, Ameerud Din Medical College Principal Dr Muhammad Farooq Afzal ordered an audit of all medicines in the hospital inventory.
Lahore General Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Faryad Hussain said the duty rosters of the arrested employees had been called for review. He added that if the inquiry established the involvement of any other staff members, they would also face strict legal action.
The case centres on medicines meant for government use, and the hospital administration has moved to examine stock records as part of the response. The police investigation is now under way after the registration of the case at Kot Lakhpat police station.
Hospital authorities have linked the case to employees working at the facility, while senior officials have initiated internal scrutiny alongside the criminal investigation. The audit ordered by the principal is expected to cover the full medicine inventory at the hospital.
Officials have so far identified four suspects in the case. The complaint submitted by Dr Muhammad Shahid led to the formal registration of the case, after which police started their probe. Separately, the hospital administration has sought duty rosters of the arrested employees to examine their assignments in connection with the allegations.
Dr Faryad Hussain said any additional staff member found involved during the investigation would face strict legal action. The matter remains under investigation by police and hospital authorities.
