Peshawar Board suspends 17 teachers over alleged MCQs leak

PESHAWAR: The Department of Education has suspended 17 teachers for three months over allegations of leaking Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) during the ongoing Matric examinations, according to the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Peshawar.

BISE Peshawar said the action has been taken as part of a strict zero-tolerance policy against cheating and paper leaks in the Matric exams. The board said the policy has been enforced immediately.

According to the chairman of BISE Peshawar, the move is in line with directives issued by the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government to ensure full transparency in the examination system. The board said it has begun prompt measures to safeguard the integrity of the examinations.

The suspended teachers were serving as invigilators or supervisory staff at examination halls in Peshawar and Charsadda. The board said the suspensions were made on the basis of preliminary allegations.

An official inquiry has been launched against the 17 teachers. BISE Peshawar said that if the allegations are proven, the individuals concerned will face further disciplinary action, including possible dismissal from service.

Board officials said the future of students would not be allowed to suffer because of malpractice in the examination process. They stated that no form of wrongdoing or corruption in the conduct of examinations would be accepted.

The board also said special arrangements have been introduced to stop copying and paper leaks during the ongoing Matric examinations. At the same time, it said efforts are being made to provide students with maximum facilities and a comfortable environment at examination centres.

The chairman said the campaign to ensure transparency in examinations would continue without discrimination, and action against those found responsible would remain underway.

The development has been welcomed by parents and educationists, who have long called for firm action against those involved in practices that damage the credibility of public examinations in the province.

The latest action comes amid the ongoing Matric examination process, with the board stressing that maintaining transparency and protecting the sanctity of the exams remain central priorities.
