Northern Bypass cattle market opens ahead of Eidul Azha
The Northern Bypass cattle market was inaugurated in Karachi ahead of Eidul Azha. Officials said improved facilities and security arrangements have been put in place for traders and visitors.

KARACHI: Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad on Sunday inaugurated a cattle market established at the Northern Bypass for Eidul Azha, with officials saying arrangements have been made to improve facilities and security for traders and visitors.
The opening ceremony was attended by cattle market administrator Tariq Tanoli, who welcomed the deputy mayor, according to a spokesperson.
Murad said the city administration would extend full cooperation for the market’s operations. He said that, as in the previous year, all necessary support would be provided to help ensure the market functions smoothly during the Eid season.
He said residents of Karachi have traditionally relied on the Northern Bypass market to purchase sacrificial animals, and added that security arrangements remain among the main priorities for the administration.
Referring to the significance of Eidul Azha, Murad said the religious occasion reflects unity, brotherhood and service to others.
Tanoli said steps had been improved this year to make the market more convenient for the public, with better facilities introduced for both traders and citizens visiting the site.
He said quality livestock had been arriving at the market over the past four days. The animals brought to the market include Brahman, Cholistani, Sahiwal and other breeds.
The market has been set up to cater to the annual rise in demand for sacrificial animals ahead of Eidul Azha, when large numbers of buyers visit cattle markets across Karachi.
Officials said the focus this year is on facilitating both sellers and buyers through improved arrangements at the Northern Bypass site, while maintaining security for the large number of people expected to visit the market in the coming days.
