Stresses focus on smooth, safe and comfortable pilgrimage, lauding Pakistan-Saudi coordination
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousuf on Sunday announced that arrangements for Hajj 2026 have been finalised, with no additional cost for pilgrims, as Pakistan prepares to send 180,000 pilgrims under both government and private schemes, with flight operations set to begin from April 18.
Speaking to state broadcaster PTV News in Riyadh, the minister said all arrangements are being completed in an efficient and organised manner, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free pilgrimage experience.
He said a total of 180,000 pilgrims will perform Hajj this year, including 120,000 under the government scheme and 60,000 through private arrangements, ensuring equitable access for all eligible applicants.
Highlighting key improvements, he announced the addition of a new Lahore-to-Saudi Arabia route to facilitate easier travel for pilgrims, while flights from other cities will continue as per schedule.
The minister emphasised that all operational aspects — including flights, accommodation and transport — are being managed in a coordinated and exemplary manner to ensure the comfort and safety of pilgrims.
He added that the Ministry of Religious Affairs is maintaining close coordination with private operators to effectively regulate Umrah services, accommodation, catering and transport facilities.
“Every effort is being made to provide high-quality arrangements, and the ministry aims to make this year’s Hajj exemplary in terms of management and facilities,” he said.
Reaffirming strong bilateral ties, the minister appreciated the cooperation and arrangements made by Saudi Arabia for Pakistani pilgrims.
He noted that Pakistan will fully utilise its allocated Hajj quota this year while maintaining high standards, reflecting the joint commitment of both countries to ensuring a safe, smooth and memorable pilgrimage.
Responding to a query, he said that while the traditional Hajj flight route operated between Karachi and Islamabad, the addition of the Lahore route will further ease travel for pilgrims, alongside continued services from other cities.
